²⁸ They then ^(A)joined themselves to ^[a]Baal-peor,
And ate ^(B)sacrifices offered to the dead.
²⁹ Thus they ^(C)provoked Him to anger with their actions,
And the plague broke out among them.
³⁰ Then Phinehas ^(D)stood up and interceded,
And so the ^(E)plague was checked.
